FED: VIC's 2nd road death today lifts national toll to six

The national holiday road toll has climbed to six .. with the latest fatality in Victoria bringing the state's toll to three.

A motorcyclist died when his bike crashed into a light pole at Rye on the Mornington Peninsula .. only 100 metres from a party he's believed to have had left.

Earlier .. a 55-year pedestrian was struck by a semi-trailer while walking on a lane on the Princes freeway at Trafalgar south-east of Melbourne in the early hours of the morning .. and died at the scene.

The other road death in Victoria occurred yesterday .. at Ballarat.

New South Wales recorded its first fatality for the holiday period yesterday when three cars crashed just next to the Woronora Bridge in Sydney's south.

Meanwhile .. in Queensland .. a motorcyclist died early yesterday in a high speed crash at Emerald after evading police attempts to stop him.

And there's been one death in the Northern Territory.
